Port of Brisbane Authority - Security and Emergency Response Centre Tour

ASIS Queensland Chapter is privileged to be granted access and a special guided tour of the Port of Brisbane Authority by the Manager Security Services - Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd.

 

       

The tour will include key topical presentations from stakeholders from the Port of Brisbane:

  • Introduction to the Port of Brisbane,
  • The Security - Safety Diversity Model, and 
  • The Development of a sustainable Port Protective Services Model.

                                

Facility Overview

The Port of Brisbane, managed by the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd, is Queensland’s largest general cargo and container port and a driver of economic growth throughout South East Queensland. The port’s limits extend geographically from Point Cartwright, north of Brisbane, to Breakfast Creek, approximately 16km upstream of the river mouth and include the 90km shipping channel.

Every year the Port of Brisbane services more than 2,400 ships and handles more than 32 million tonnes of international cargo, valued at over A$34.4 billion. Key commodities traded through the Port of Brisbane include oil (crude and refined), coal exports and motor vehicle imports. The Port of Brisbane is also the country’s largest exporter of cotton and meat. The Port of Brisbane’s major trading partners include: South East, North, and East Asia; New Zealand; and the Gulf and Middle East regions.

The port now covers an area of about 750ha at the river mouth and over the past 20 years more than $1.3 billion has been invested in the port’s infrastructure and assets. Annually, businesses at the Port of Brisbane contribute about $1.9 billion to Queensland’s economy and contribute directly and indirectly to the creation of more than 11,000 jobs, mostly in Queensland.

Credit Points – 1 ASIS CPE’s is available for session attendance to ASIS Certified members.

PHOTO ID will be required - The Port of Brisbane is a Landside Restricted Zone under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Act 2003.

Schedule:

  • 5.30pm sharp: Marshall & Site Induction,
  • 6.00pm BBQ dinner,
  • 6.30pm Commence Tour, 
  • 8.30pm (estimated) finish.

Transport Event parking is available.

Parking Directions

  • Turn left off Port Drive at the Kite Street roundabout,
  • Turn right into Osprey Drive,
  • Turn left into Howard Smith Drive,
  • Arrive at 18 Howard Smith Drive - Port of Brisbane Operations Base, 
  • A Port of Brisbane Security Team representative will be at the gate to provide access and directions for parking.

Venue Dress Requirements - No specific dress or PPE is required, however professional attire is recommended.

Catering A BBQ will be provided at the Port of Brisbane Authority - Please advise the Secretary if you have any specific dietary considerations or allergies.
